Violeta Alarcão, sociologist. PhD in Sociology from Iscte-University Institute of Lisbon. She was a researcher at the Institute of Preventive Medicine and Public Health of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMUL) from 2004 to 2019, where she participated and was responsible for several projects in epidemiology and public health. Currently, she continues to collaborate as a researcher at the FMUL at the Institute of Environmental Health, is a researcher at the Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology at Iscte (CIES-Iscte) and a visiting researcher at the Unité de Recherche Santé et droits sexuels et reproductifs of the Institut National d’Études Démographiques (Ined-France). Her research interests and approaches are multiple and interdisciplinary, having increasingly included themes that explore the intersections of Health, Gender and Migration in a framework of social justice and privileging mixed methods and participatory research.
